Airbus 380 First Class Mock-Up - Innovative training model

Initial situation:
Robert Hofmann GmbH received a request to develop a training model for the Airbus First Class. This model was to serve as a variable and modular building block system to represent different cabin configurations. It was to function as a demonstration and training room for the crew, including a complete and functional cabin interior.

Challenges:
The challenge was to develop a flexible design that could be used for other types of aircraft. A dimensional accuracy of +/- 0.5 mm was specified. Only surface data from the design was available, so all functional elements had to be redesigned. In addition, installation in the original fuselage was required, and all this had to be done within a very tight schedule.

Solution approach:
The solution was to develop a modular construction system with a secondary structure adjustable in all three axes. All reference points were measured using the laser tracker to meet the strict dimensional accuracy requirements. This enabled precise construction and integration into the original hull.

Result:
The project was successfully completed on time. A high-end mock-up was produced within a project duration of less than 4 months. The system developed proved to be extremely flexible and modular, so that it could be adapted to all common aircraft sizes and cabin configurations. The mock-up was dismantled in Lichtenfels and then reassembled in Toulouse, France.

The successful implementation of this project underlines our outstanding technical expertise and innovative strength. The development of a flexible and dimensionally accurate design not only met the customer's requirements, but also created the basis for future adaptations and extensions. The Airbus 380 First Class Mock-Up is now available as an impressive example of excellence in the aviation industry and as a valuable training tool for the crew.
